Road Washout Update

Update: the loader made it to Malachi Road and early Sunday afternoon blew out a tire.

This will further delay repair efforts.

Friday Night’s heavy rainfall has left it’s mark with several road washouts on the Pickerel Lake, White and Malachi Roads. At this point the actual total is unknown as reports filter in from several different sources. What we do know is that the road is impassible.

A large Backhoe is starting today (Sunday) on the Pickerel Lake Road repairing washouts for one lane passage and will be working towards the Malachi Landing. It is anticipated that this equipment will reach the Malachi Road Sunday evening and hopefully the Malachi Landing by late Monday. However, due to the severity of the washouts on the Malachi Road, this might not happen until Tuesday or Wednesday. Major road repairs will not begin until all the creeks and water tributaries have stopped their water flow and the extent of the repairs will be contingent upon available funds.
