Another Helicopter Landing Site is now accessible at Malachi Lake, and is now the primary helicopter landing site.
With the guidance of ORNGE Medical Emergency Services, a new landing site has been created in the northeast corner of north Malachi Lake that Medical Teams, the OPP, and the Pellatt Fire Department can navigate in emergencies.
LANDING SITE DOCK has 2 Neon Orange Cones. **WAIT for Paramedics to transfer patient from boat to Helicopter Landing Site up the hill.
The new landing site is the result of the dedication and hard work of Perry and Traci Stephenson, who have worked for the past two years to build up the area behind their cottage, and in their words, “…give back to the Malachi community that’s given so much to us.” They’ve dubbed it ‘Stephenson Field’. Our thanks go to Perry, Traci and the Stephenson family for their generosity and commitment to the community of Malachi Lake!
Shout out also to Jeff Stephenson, Robert Voth and Dale Wuzinski, who were a big part of site preparation.
The Malachi Campers Association recommends it be used as a primary location should a medical/fire/police emergency arise. All usage is at your own risk.
**WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO CRUISE BY and BECOME FAMILIAR WITH THE NEW HELI-PAD SITE LOCATION. THE DOCK HAS two neon orange cones on it. (MAP/PHOTOS below)
We also encourage you to ensure that your healthcare/insurance provider has you covered! If you live outside Ontario, your present insurance may not cover FLIGHT or AMBULANCE fees in Ontario.
NOTE:
A secondary helicopter landing area remains south of our Land Use Permit area at the landing – Please keep it clear of parked vehicles, trailers and barges – it can be used for dropping construction materials and emergency personnel.
