PICNIC 2022

Dear fellow lovers of Malachi Lake,

As our annual picnic approaches, the picnic crew is very busy organizing our biggest community party and CAMP fundraiser!

It all begins Saturday July 30th with our pancake breakfast from 9 – 11am, followed by activities like volleyball, races for young and old, horse shoes, with a BBQ lunch and drinks served from 11am to 3 pm, an egg toss (my favourite), and a silent auction.

And don’t forget the fireworks off Memorial Island on Sunday evening! (if we have lower water levels)

Volunteers Needed:

We would like to thank the many volunteers who have stepped forward already to pitch in.

We still need volunteers for the following positions (one hour shifts from 11 am to 3 pm):

  • Folks to sell tickets (2) per hour
  • BBQ hot dogs & onions (2) per hour
  • chicken server (2) per hour
  • plate prep (3) per hour
  • face painters and craft people (2) per hour.

Contact Sheila Malcolmson at 204 227 1909 or sheilamalcolmson1@gmail.com or Mark as listed below

We need a total of 44 folks to fill these roles.

If you are willing to lend a hand for an hour please contact Mark Kubanek (markakubanek@gmail.com, 807-224-4235) before the long weekend.

Food Tickets:

Because we have limited change at the picnic – small bills and correct change are much appreciated.

Save your big bills for the auction and the Puff Fire Hall “FILL THE BOOT”!

Silent Auction:

Picnic expenses are covered from revenue generated by the silent auction, so we’re always looking for donations!

Items can be delivered to the Ryland’s Cottage (Black’s)

Leave on porch if no one is there (for large items please drop off at the C.A.M.P)

If you are in a pinch, items can be dropped off at the cottage of Leslie Alexander.

Thank you for donating.

Unfortunately nothing can be accepted after July 28th , 9pm.

Parking:

As most are aware, the station docks were badly damaged this spring. Our crack volunteer dock crew feel they will have a dock in place for loading and unloading…no parking

It is best to take your trailers home during the busy summer months (July & August) so that we have more parking spots available. This also helps our more senior members from having to walk too far from the docks to their vehicle. Thank you for your consideration.

If you do have a trailer at the landing, please leave your trailers in the appropriate areas outside the vehicle parking area. Boats, trailers, and trailers attached to vehicles are taking up parking areas designated for vehicles.

We have negotiated a trailer parking area with the MNR, so please use it.

Thanks,

Your Malachi Campers’ Association  Board
