Report from Copelands: E Clay went out and drilled holes in the ice
this morning. 30 feet out he went through a crust of ice, then layer of
water, then 20″ of good blue ice. Checking 60 yards out he found
similar layers but was rewarded with 2 feet of good blue ice.
Apparently current can actually be seen as water flows out the Malachi
creek. Another interesting note, the water level is within 2-3 inches
of the high water line that we had a couple of years ago and judging by
my quad tracks still being visible from my last ride on the ice last
Monday, we aren’t down to the main ice yet.
