March 17

Did a town trip today.  Muddy puddles forming on both sides of the narrows with ice underneath; so far.  This is changing daily/hourly with the sunny warm temperatures.  The path across the narrows is rutting and muddy, hence tracking mud onto the ice and promoting a faster melt.  At the landing, the culvert directly S of the boat launch is running into the lake and starting to show some erosion.  By Friday care should be taken at both the landing and at the narrows.  On the lake, by afternoon the cover was wet and slushy, no blow holes noted travelling on the W trail but a hole can form quickly anywhere in these conditions.  Getting to the point where a close check of the puddles is warranted before driving through, conditions are changing daily/hourly.  Choose wisely…..
