A forest fire is currently burning northwest of Ingolf. Pellatt firefighters initially responded to scene, but were asked to turn back by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. Kenora Fire Chief Todd Skene says the fire is about 250 hectares in size (1 sq mi). The MNR is in the process of fighting the fire from the air with water bombers and things are going well, according to Skene’s contact with the MNR. Skene advises the general public to avoid the area. “I think the most important thing is that MNR is working on it and to stay out of the area,” Skene says. “Stay off the roads in those areas and keep them open for MNR traffic. That’s probably the best thing to do right now.”
