The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry as well as Natural
Resources Canada have raised the FIRE DANGER RATING this morning to
EXTREME. Conditions in NW Ontario are very dry. The Malachi Lake area has
only received 25 mm (1 inch) of rain this spring since the snow melted and
HIGH temperatures and LOW humidity greatly increase the potential risk of
forest fires. If these conditions persist the area will soon become a
RESTRICTED FIRE ZONE. PLEASE follow the rules and guidelines of the
forestry department.
