Today went down to diving rock and walked about 1/3 of the way towards the big island.  Out of the 8 holes drilled we get 50% 5 inch depth and the other 5 1/2 inch, all in clear blue ice.  ?We want a blue, blue, freeze up?…..      Personally I prefer 90% dry holes, which with my drill and paddle bit, puts the thickness over 5 7/8 inches.  The thinking is in those areas which could be half that, a snowmobile should make it across.  Cold weather is coming.  Travelling on the ice is never safe.
