Took all day, but managed to consult with the various observers, and
(insert drum roll), we have official ice in! Took a walk on the ice, N
from our dock, well separated, drilling holes, to Dejongs, at which time
we aborted before heading around the first point at Jeffs. We found 90%
2 inches with some 2 1/4 and only 1 hole approaching 2 1/2 inches.
Vaughan had walked down along the tracks to the station landing and
walked out past the fraggle ice and got 1 1/2 inches in blue ice. So we
have a start. We will be checking every second day and see how
conditions progress.
